Sharing the transforming grace of God

Salt & Light

Sue and I are now in Casper we are very much aware of our dependence upon God to establish Salt & Light. Now that we have been here a over two years we are even more confident of the need for a reformed church that is passionate about Jesus, Biblically faithful, lives all of life for the glory of God, and believes lost people matter to God.  For those of you who have been praying, we cannot fully express how much we appreciate your prayers.

What God has been doing so far:

¨ Provided a place for Charlie and Sue to live

While this may seem like a routine matter — the hand of God was clearly evident.  An apartment on the mountain was offered to us before we came, but we turned the offer down.  Just prior to our final move we came to find a place to live.  We soon discovered that not only were there no apartments available, there was a waiting list for apartments, and the houses that were available were more than we could afford. We were told about people living in a motel room for months waiting for a place to open up.  We called the owner of the apartment on the mountain and miraculously, it was still available.

¨ Provided Sue with employment

This was a crucial component for our ability to even live here.

¨ Provided Charlie with encouraging and prayerful pastor friends in the community Charlie is meeting weekly with a group of pastors who are enthusiastic about Salt & Light and are praying for it to be established.  One of the pastors has even offered the use of his church’s facilities for Salt & Light.

¨ Provided media coverage -- One of the local TV stations did a special news segment on Charlie and Salt & Light that was very positive.  A newspaper just publicized our Bible study in a prominent format at no charge

¨ Created interest and provided a home for a Thursday evening Bible study

¨ Charlie had the joy and privilege of joining his sister and her boyfriend in marriage

¨ A Thursday evening bible study has been started and continues to meet regularly.

¨ Thank you for your prayers for Malcolm and Eileen.  Malcolm arrived in Casper, Eileen has a job and is now a part of our community

¨  God enabled us to buy a home on the west side of town.  The mountain was beautiful, but we now have more room and don’t have to worry about getting up and down during the winter

¨ Charlie is working at Best Buy selling appliances and TVs. The job not only provides income but numerous opportunities to meet people.  Continue to pray for the ongoing opportunities to share the gospel there.

¨ We are now gathering regularly on Sunday mornings to worship Jesus, gather around His Word and encourage one another.

¨ God has worked wonderfully in providing a place for us to gather on Sundays.  We are now meeting in the Hilton, in a spacious room and everything we need to worship.

¨  Sue has started a women’s study that has attracted new women from the community.

¨ We were able to attend the “Gospel Coalition” conference which was a wonderful opportunity that encouraged us to continue preaching the Word.

¨ Charlie was able to teach  “An Introduction to the Pentateuch in community education class at Casper College and will be teaching a class on the Reformation soon.

¨ A Sunday morning class on the Reformation was well attended and we now have ongoing Sunday morning studies.

¨We outgrew our room at the Hilton and God provided an even better place to meet at the Izaac Walton League clubhouse.

¨Because the Thurs. evening study has grown and changed to Wednesday also because of interest in Glenrock for a study, a Tuesday evening Bible study is being held in Glenrock — Praise God!!!

What we are asking God to do:

¨ God knows the people He wants to bring together as the nucleus of Salt & Light. We are praying that He would connect us with those people.

¨Be praying for leadership for youth, music and additional bible studies.
